"Facing prostate cancer at 55, I had to become
informed. My Gleason score was 6, my stage was 2 c cancer on both
sides of the prostate. I decided on the procedure that was best for
me. It may not be the procedure for you. I chose Dr Thomas J
Maatman and the da Vinci™ Prostatectectomy. The most
important thing with this surgery is the number of procedures the
surgeon has done, and what the patient outcomes are. This surgery
has a steep learning curve. I had a great outcome! PSA 0.06, good
bladder control at 4 weeks and mostly normal erections at 7 months.
It can take 2 years or longer to have full recovery of erections.
This is major surgery. I was in the hospital 2-1/2 days with mostly
manageable pain. My recovery went well. Exercise and sleep helped
my bladder control and fatigue. Walking and cycling worked for me."
